Prachi Shevgaonkar is a journalist, communicator, and the founder of Cool The Globe, a climate-action app and movement. It’s a free, citizen-led climate action software that helps people meet a target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
‘What can I do about climate change?’ she wondered at the start of her journey. As a result, the Cool The Globe app was created to assist citizens in reducing their own greenhouse gas emissions to a target. Prachi spent months researching the impact of climate change on people’s daily life by interviewing youth, farmers, waste-picker communities, and citizen groups.

Prachi enlisted the support of over 200 students from her college to beta test the app in order to “make it flawless.” From concept to design, she claims it took her three years. In December 2020, the app was officially launched. Prachi promoted the app with a video ad that went viral on social media. Entrepreneurs like Harsh Mariwala, Chairman of Marico, helped spread the word by tweeting about it.

Users can set monthly and annual goals to reduce their GHG emissions using the app. Users may save money by taking 100+ customized climate actions that they can incorporate into their daily lives. They can also see how many emissions they averted as a result of their actions.
The app’s mission is to make climate action attainable, accessible, and quantifiable, and to encourage individuals to take tiny but regular steps to combat climate change. It has over 10,000 users and is present in 55 countries around the world, growing into a citizen-led climate action movement. Prachi has also won the Taru Lalvani Award For Environmental Protection.
