Rocketfood: Delivering Delicious, Home-Like Meals at Rocket Speed
In the bustling city of Delhi, where people often yearn for the comforting taste of ‘maa ke haath ka khana’ (homemade food), Rocketfood has emerged as a game-changer. This seven-month-old food venture, headquartered in Noida, has set out to revolutionize food delivery by focusing on impeccable taste, hygienic packaging, and prompt service. Abhineet Kumar, the Founder, and Anurag Singh, Co-founder, are on a mission to cater to everyone’s culinary needs, whether it’s a solo meal or bulk orders for gatherings of friends and family.
Rocketfood distinguishes itself with its North Indian recipes, delectable taste, and attractive, hygienic packaging. The startup is committed to providing an exceptional dining experience by delivering food in pizza boxes, ensuring zero spillage, especially for gravy-laden dishes. What sets Rocketfood apart is its affordability, offering single servings starting at just Rs. 50, making it an attractive choice even for those on a tight budget. The company’s low kitchen setup costs, affordable rentals, and quick turnaround time have proven to be advantageous, placing it a step ahead of competitors.
While many food delivery startups operate in this space, Rocketfood stands out due to its unique value proposition. According to Abhineet Kumar, “Our food is not the typical greasy restaurant food. It is high in quality and taste, despite being made with optimal oil and spices.”
Rocketfood’s decision to adopt an internet-first aggregator model rather than a traditional restaurant setup is rooted in the desire for rapid scalability. Abhineet, who had prior experience working with Mast Kalandar, witnessed firsthand the challenges of maintaining growth momentum in the food industry. He was well aware of the hurdles faced by food startups. Rocketfood’s innovative model has allowed them to overcome these challenges and scale their business swiftly. Abhineet and Anurag initiated this venture to address the problems of late deliveries, inconvenient packaging, greasy food, and expensive menus that plague traditional food delivery services. They embarked on this journey in July 2014, setting up their first kitchen in Indirapuram in August. Three months ago, they launched a kitchen in Noida, further expanding their presence.
One of the key promises that Rocketfood makes to its customers is to deliver food within 30 minutes. Achieving this feat requires precise coordination and efficiency. When orders are received through the Rocketfood app, the kitchen team does not follow a first-come-first-serve approach. Instead, they rely on technology to prioritize orders based on real-time factors like the volume of incoming orders, optimizing the delivery team’s route for maximum efficiency. Rocketfood meticulously tracks their delivery team’s journey, monitoring factors such as time spent on the bike, duration of the journey, and the time taken to reach the delivery location. This data is processed by their app, allowing the delivery team to make informed decisions on future routes.
Within seven months of its inception, Rocketfood has generated one crore in revenue, serving customers in Noida and Ghaziabad. Their focus on corporate partnerships and enterprise sales is expected to become a significant revenue stream for the company in the future. As a bootstrapped startup, they have invested around Rs. 60 lakh in the business. With a growing demand for their services in Gurgaon and South Delhi, they are gearing up for expansion in the coming months.
Rocketfood currently boasts a customer base of around 100 loyal patrons, with new customers joining every day. They have successfully been delivering approximately 7,500 meals each month. The team is gearing up to enter the Gurgaon market, capitalizing on its vast market potential, which promises to fuel their growth even further.
