Commuting in India’s bustling cities has long been a challenge, marked by traffic snarls, pollution, and unreliable public transportation. The daily struggle of office-goers inspired Amit Singh and Deepanshu Malviya to create a solution that not only eases the commute but also addresses critical urban issues. Their brainchild, Shuttl, has garnered attention and funding, aiming to transform the way people travel.

Recently, Shuttl secured a significant $20 million in a Series A funding round from notable investors like Lightspeed, Times Internet, and Sequoia India. This financial boost will fuel the company’s expansion and technological advancements. Shuttl has already made an impact by offering last-mile connectivity on 50 routes in Delhi (NCR).

Amit Singh, Co-founder of Shuttl, envisions the platform as a solution to the office commute problem, with a broader mission to alleviate congestion, reduce pollution, and enhance safety. Shuttl’s partnership with initiatives like Car Free Day and Rapid Metro reflects its commitment to addressing these urban challenges. Since its inception, Shuttl has proudly facilitated more than eight lakh rides, currently averaging approximately 15,000 rides every day. The pricing structure, ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 100, caters to diverse commuters.

Deepanshu Malviya, Co-founder of Shuttl, views these times as exciting, marked by the potential to improve millions of lives through innovative solutions. Their unique approach has been gaining recognition, transforming the lives of daily commuters and urban residents. Bejul Somaia, Managing Director at Lightspeed India Partners Advisors LLP, expresses excitement about Shuttl’s potential to have a massive social impact by addressing transportation, safety, and pollution problems. He sees Shuttl as a solution that caters to daily travel challenges in an affordable, safe, and eco-friendly manner.

However, the road to success for Shuttl has not been without hurdles. The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) recently suspended the operations of Shuttl and Ola Shuttle in Gurgaon, citing rule violations and operating without permits. Despite these challenges, Shuttl maintains that its service is not halted in Gurgaon and emphasizes full legal compliance. One of Shuttl’s missions is to engage with stakeholders to support the success of Delhi Government’s odd-even initiative, which seeks to reduce pollution and traffic congestion. With over 500 buses on its platform and 15,000 daily rides, Shuttl aims to provide an affordable, convenient, and efficient transportation solution.

The emerging bus service market in India has the potential to surpass the taxi market, valued at Rs 60,000 crore. The convenience of sharing rides and reducing congestion has been pivotal in the success of ride-sharing services like Uber and Ola. Startups like Shuttl, Zipgo, and rBus are now making strides in changing the public’s perception of bus transportation, addressing the long-standing issue of last-mile connectivity in urban India. Amit Singh and Deepanshu Malviya’s vision for Shuttl aligns with the changing urban landscape, where innovative transportation solutions are essential. With substantial funding and a dedicated mission to simplify daily commutes, Shuttl is well-positioned to redefine the way people travel in India’s metropolitan areas.

In the ever-growing commuting space, competition is fierce, but Amit Singh and Deepanshu Malviya’s Shuttl has its sights set on revolutionizing the daily commute for millions of urban residents.
