KlinicApp Bridging the Gap in India’s Home Healthcare Services
India’s healthcare landscape has witnessed a surge in home healthcare services, with the market expected to grow by $32.6 billion during 2018-22, according to Technavio Plus. However, the plethora of diagnostic centres offering varying prices for tests can leave individuals wondering where to turn. Gurugram-based start-up KlinicApp is simplifying this by introducing the concept of ‘One Nation, One Price,’ ensuring uniform pricing for services across different cities in India. Founded in November 2015 by a team of seasoned entrepreneurs, including Satkam Divya, Parvendra Singh, Shwetabh Walter, Sandeep Saraf, and Amal Sardar, KlinicApp is an e-diagnostics start up that provides standardized diagnostic tests at the convenience of one’s home. The founders come with diverse backgrounds and extensive experience, making them a formidable team.
KlinicApp offers end-to-end diagnostic tests conducted at home. Its tech-enabled team collects samples, and the tests are conducted in NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) certified partner labs. Booking tests or healthcare packages is a breeze through the website, mobile app (available on Android and iOS), or a simple phone call to the helpline. Users can pay online during booking or at the time of sample collection. Pricing is transparent and consistent, with basic tests like Platelet count costing Rs 99, and comprehensive packages like the Advance Vitamin Profile priced at Rs 1,599. KlinicApp collaborates with labs holding certifications such as NABL, ISO, and CAP, ensuring high-quality services. The company boasts its fleet of on-ground technicians and offers mandatory 15-day training for employees new to the healthcare industry.
The Journey That Inspired Change:
The genesis of KlinicApp traces back to the personal experiences of its founder, Satkam Divya. Witnessing his sister and father-in-law undergo kidney transplants within two years, he recognized the critical need for improved hygiene, safety, and reliability in diagnostic tests. This inspired him to create a platform that could redefine the healthcare experience for individuals. Drawing from his entrepreneurial expertise, Satkam embarked on this venture with a clear vision. His commitment to in-house management of core responsibilities aligned with his belief that whatever is fundamental to a business must be intrinsic to the company.
The founding team comprises individuals with over a decade of experience in their respective domains. Parvendra, Shwetabh, Sandeep, and Amal, all of whom previously collaborated with Satkam, bring their expertise to the table. With a total team size of 43, KlinicApp is setting new standards in home healthcare.
The Revenue Model and Growth Trajectory:
KlinicApp generates revenue directly from patients availing their services. The start-up has secured Rs 1.75 crore through various angel funding rounds and recently closed an undisclosed institutional round. Despite rapid growth, the company has focused on fiscal prudence and not burning cash needlessly. KlinicApp has already served over 1.1 lakh patients, conducting more than 7.3 million tests worth Rs 14 crore. In FY 2018-19, it achieved a revenue of Rs 3.76 crore. While the start-up operates throughout India, it maintains a strong presence in West and South India.
The Indian diagnostic market has been growing at a remarkable rate, with estimates indicating its worth at Rs 40,000 crore, according to a RedSeer Report from January 2018. KlinicApp faces competition from several players, including 3Hcare, Airmed Labs, Portea, Nightingales, and CallHealth. What sets KlinicApp apart is its tech-driven approach, streamlining the value chain, and enhancing affordability for end-users. KlinicApp is poised for aggressive growth in the coming years. The company aims to achieve 200 percent growth in the next few years, stabilizing at a consistent 100 percent year-on-year growth rate. Central to their expansion strategy is strengthening logistics by adding 3,000 technicians and phlebotomists across 12 cities over the next two years. Additionally, KlinicApp is developing AI-based technology to predict susceptibility to lifestyle disorders.
In a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, KlinicApp stands as a beacon of change, ensuring that standardized, quality diagnostic services are accessible to individuals across India, regardless of their location. As the company continues to innovate and expand its reach, it is poised to make a significant impact on the nation’s home healthcare services sector.
